You are required to submit documentation of completion of the following core procedures:

• Venipuncture
• Arterial Blood Gas
• Foley Catheter
• EKG                
• IV
• Nasogastric Tube (optional)

Documentation must be accompanied by the date and the signature of an appropriate supervisor. An appropriate supervisor is anyone who is trained in that particular procedure. Additionally, you should record these procedures and any other procedures that you have the opportunity to do during the clerkship on the E*value system.

If you do not submit your procedure log by the end of the rotation, you will receive a grade of incomplete for the rotation. If you have substantial expertise in any of the above areas (for example, your previous job was in nursing), speak with the clerkship director about the possibility of exemption from specific requirements.
