The Pathway Program

  • Elective experience in ambulatory patient care, designed for pre-clinical students interested in primary care medicine and specifically Family Medicine


  • Offered through the Department of Family and Community Medicine for medical students
Elements of the Pathway Program
  • Real patient exposure


  • Preceptors: practicing physicians to whom you are assigned

  • Advisors: practicing physician members of the Department of Family and Community Medicine who can assist you in career planning and curricula choices


  • Clinical Conferences: clinical topics presented by family physicians


  • Clinical Skills Workshops: workshops designed to teach basic clinical skills
Application and Selection Process
  • Complete the application


  • Include a brief resume and prepare a short essay stating your career goals and why you are interested in becoming a Pathway participant


  • All applicants selected for the Pathway Program will be notified by mail or email
