Welcome to the Internal Medicine Program at the UAB Health Center Montgomery. Created in 1974 under the guidance of the late Tinsley Harrison, this program has been making a difference in medical education, patient care, and community service for over three decades. As part of the School of Medicine at UAB, we strive to maintain the high standards of excellence required of being an integral aspect of a world class institution. We would hope that you would join our family to assist in achieving this goal.

Our purpose is to provide our residents the tools necessary for their future professional and personal success. In an environment of collegiality and mutual respect, residents expand their medical knowledge, attain clinical skills and judgment, and acquire ethical and compassionate patterns of behavior. Learning is accomplished primarily at the bedside both in the hospital and in the outpatient clinics, where residents assume responsibility of a diverse population of patients, not only in the disease states encountered but also in their socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Under the guidance of a committed and dedicated faculty, residents gain experience yet also recognize the need for personal refection and insight to further mature as a critical thinker and problem solver.

After you have reviewed our Website, I encourage you to contact us for further information about the educational experiences available at UAB Montgomery. We look forward to being a partner in the next steps in your medical education.

Best wishes!
