Management for Engineers The Engineering Management curriculum is a joint program between The Graduate School of Management in the School of Business and the School of Engineering. Engineering graduate students (from any field) take 4 courses in the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program and 21 hours in any engineering discipline. MBA courses should include MBA 610, 620, 632, and 650. Students completing the business and engineering courses will be awarded a MS in their engineering discipline.
If a student wants to continue in the MBA program, the 4 courses (12 hours) completed for the MS in engineering will count toward the MBA. The total number of hours required for the MBA is 48. A student (irrespective of the undergraduate degree or coursework) must complete at least 36 semester credit hours to complete the MBA degree. Engineering students typically will take 42 to 48 hours to obtain the MBA.
Below is an outline of the recommended courses engineering students should complete (each course listed would fulfill the “required” courses) for the MBA:
MBA 610 - Financial Analysis and Reporting for Management
MBA 611 - Management Information Systems
MBA 620 - Corporate Finance
MBA 660 - Quantitative Methods I (required but waived for most engineering students)
