Chi Epsilon, Civil Engineering Honor Society General Information The members of the Chi Epsilon Chapter of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Civil Engineering Honor Society are committed:
To contribute to the improvement of the civil engineering profession as an instrument of the betterment of society and to assure future generations of continue service and quality from the profession of civil engineering through education and community service activities.
To identify those characteristics desirable in the civil engineer and to encourage all civil engineers to develop these characteristics.
To support any and all times any movement to advance the quality of engineering education; as well as to actively support; and to endeavor to aid the civil engineering department in broadening its services to the students, public, and industry.

To be eligible for membership, an undergraduate must rank scholastically in the upper one-third of his or her class in a curriculum leading to baccalaureate degree in civil engineering.
Graduate Students
A graduate student who was initiated as an undergraduate may be an active member of the chapter at the school he or she is presently attending. A graduate student in civil engineering is eligible for membership provided the student has shown outstanding ability and has completed to equivalency of one-half of one academic year in the graduate program where the student is currently enrolled. The student must be nominated by a member of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Civil Engineering Honor Society and endorsed by two faculty members. Meeting Information First Wednesday of the month at noon, during normal school schedule.
