Current Research
Dr. Vaidya heads the Engineered Plastics and Composites Laboratory.
The research is focused on new and innovative thermoplastic composite materials and fabrication technologies for low-cost, lightweight, high-performance applications for mass transit, military, and civil infrastructure applications.
Low cost thermoset processing (VARTM, SMC/BMC), process modeling, damage tolerance of sandwich composites, multifunctional composites, nanostructured carbon/carbon composites & adhesively bonded joints are other areas of ongoing research.
