How Can I Support the School of Business?

Scholarships

Undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships are vital to our ability to attract and retain the best and brightest students and are a top priority for the School of Business. You may direct your gift to an existing scholarship fund or help to establish an endowed scholarship in a critical need area.

Scholars Practicum

The Business Scholars program was developed in order to provide Birmingham based company’s the opportunity to inexpensively employ, test and train our best and brightest students, in their Junior and Senior year, for the number of hours needed (to be determined by each company). The entire cost can be paid in the form of a benevolent contribution to the UAB School of Business and is totally tax deductible. This program is made possible by linking a scholarship with an internship program.

The program also allows the company direct access to our best and brightest students since all practicum participant must eligible for scholarships (3.0 or better) to participate in the program. Each student participant will be available for employment upon graduation if the mutually agreed by the company and student.

The School of Business handles all administrative work of paying the student awarding the scholarships screening and selecting the candidates for interview and then an internship coordinator from the chosen discipline works with the student along the way to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the company.

Because an internship coordinator will be involved, there is also the opportunity to assign specific research projects to the students, and anything they can not handle on their own can be advised by the professor assigned to the student as the internship coordinator.

Endowed Professorships and Chairs

Recruiting and retaining world-class faculty is always a priority for the School of Business. Endowed professorships and chairs enable us to expose students to internationally renowned teachers and researchers.

Equipment Needs

Many of our programs have limited resources available for acquiring and replacing equipment used in the classroom.

These are just a few of the areas of need that have been identified. If you would like more information on any of these items, or would like to inquire about other needs of a specific department or program, please contact Camille Amos.
