UAB in Bangladesh - The Project Ends
University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Associate Professor Akhlaque Haque's project to collect spacial data of Bangladesh's roads and highways using GIS technology has ended. The project generated much interest. While in Bangladesh, Haque received nearly 50 e-mails from individuals and organizations seeking information about GIS and the project. Several of Haque's students at BRAC University became so intrigued by the technology that they soon began exploring other applications for GIS technology. Several of the students created digital maps showing the socioeconomic disparity in Bangladesh. You can read more about the project in his blog and see the maps Haque and his students created.
