Students who wish to be considered for academic scholarships should be admitted to UAB by our Priority Admission Date of December 1st of the senior year in high school. Students admitted after that date will be considered for academic scholarships on a funds available basis.

  • Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, financial need, or athletic or artistic talent. Some have specific requirements or conditions that must be met, and several two-year scholarships are available for transfer students. Many awards are renewable each year.
  • Along with scholarships offered by the university, you might be eligible for awards from individual UAB schools and departments as well as organizations and companies outside the university. Check the links to the right and visit the Financial Aid office to discover all your options.

New freshmen are automatically considered for all university-wide academic scholarships once they are accepted to UAB. Merit scholarships are awarded on a first come-first served basis to eligible entering freshmen. Students who wish to be considered for merit scholarships should postmark the undergraduate application and all supporting credentials (official transcript and official ACT and/or SAT scores) by December 1 of the senior year in high school. Admission applications completed after December 1 of the senior year will be considered on a funds-available basis.

Transfer scholarships are awarded only to students beginning in the fall term of the year. Students who wish to be considered for transfer academic scholarships should postmark the undergraduate application and all supporting credentials no later than February 1 prior to the fall semester you plan to begin.
