Medical technologists who wish to be more involved in education will seek advanced education. They are often responsible for orientation/training of new laboratory employees and other health care employees who interact with the laboratory.
In addition to teaching, evaluation of learned competencies (knowledge and skills) must be performed periodically. A medical technologist will teach medical technology students in the clinical laboratory and may also serve as lecturers or consultants in an academic setting.
