M.S. Health Administration - Executive (MSHA)
SHRP05/HSA: Professor teaching
UAB’s Executive MSHA Program is designed to prepare students for senior management positions throughout the health field. Students in the program gain new expertise and a comprehensive understanding of every aspect of health care organizations, with particular emphasis on these important health care management areas:

  • leadership

  • health care marketing

  • health care economics and financial management

  • operations management

  • health law

  • human resources management

  • managerial epidemiology

  • strategic planning and management

  • information systems and technology assessment

  • quality improvement

What makes the program appealing to so many professionals is its structure, which enables students to gain all this new expertise without giving up their job or lifestyle.

The program was created to meet the needs of busy executives and only requires students to visit the UAB campus for only eight days three times each year to complete the degree in just two years. Between the intensive campus sessions, students continue courses through online distance learning. (Applicants for the Executive MSHA Program must have at least five years of health care experience. Please contact the Program if you have questions regarding this experiential requirement.)

Executive Master of Science in Health Administration (MSHA) Program Tuition, for students entering the Program in Fall 2009, will be $21,000 (or $7,000 per semester). The total fee for the two year program is $42,000. A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 is required at the time of acceptance to the Program. The deposit is then applied to the tuition charge.

Executive MSHA tuition includes a laptop computer. Tuition also covers all books and learning materials, meals and refreshments provided during breaks, speaker costs associated with national experts brought to Birmingham, and costs associated with supporting distance learning technologies.

Students already enrolled in the Executive MSHA Program will not experience tuition increases during the two-year period of enrollment.
