An Opportunity to Solve Problems: Biotechnology offers the student an opportunity to identify and analyze problems that face society and the privilege to work toward solutions to those problems using scientific principles from biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, physics and mathematics. A Growing Industry: The biotechnology industry has annual sales of more than $50 billion and is made up of approximately 17,200 biosciences-related organizations, 1,500 biotech firms, and nearly one million employees with an average salary of more than $60,000 per year according to a study conducted by Ernst & Young. Graduates of the program can work in a number of capacities, including:
