SHP Student Services
The Office of SHP Student Services provides information and support services to enrolled and prospective students as well
as to the faculty and staff in the school. This office coordinates registration and enrollment activities for the school, SHP new
student orientation, special financial aid programs designed to complement and supplement services of the UAB Office of
Student Financial Aid (see
Financial Aid to Students), and an annual health career opportunity day which provides a forum for students to meet with representatives from health care facilities to discuss employment opportunities. This office also has faculty advising responsibilities for the SHP Student Association (see
Student Organizations).
The Office of Student Services provides academic advising for SHP pre-professional students. Academic advising for professional students is primarily the responsibility of the faculty of the program in which the student is enrolled. If a faculty advisor is not assigned by the program of study, the student should request one through the office of the director of that program of study, or contact the Office of SHP Student Services. Students who have not decided on a program of study may obtain information on SHP programs from the Office of SHP Student Services.
Program brochures and other information about the School of Health Professions may be obtained by contacting the Office of SHP Student Services, UAB School of Health Professions, 1705 University Boulevard, School of Health Professions Building, Room 478, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, Alabama 35294-1212.
