School-based Research Centers
The following multi-disciplinary UAB research centers are housed within the School of Health Professions:
Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC) - is an NIH-funded, university-wide research center established to foster a multidisciplinary approach to basic, clinical, and translational research with an emphasis on understanding the metabolic factors, environmental influences, and associated genetic traits underlying nutrition and obesity-related health problems.
Diabetes Research and Training Center (DRTC) - focuses on developing new methods to treat, prevent, and ultimately cure diabetes and its complications. The DRTC supports research in the areas of pathology, animal physiology, human biology, metrics and health services research, and community research. It is one of six NIDDK-sponsored diabetes research and training centers in the U.S.
