Oakley Runs in Legendary Boston Marathon

Dr. Ingrid Oakley, CRNA, DVM, assistant professor in the Department of Critical Care participated in the 110th Boston Marathon.

Dr. Ingrid Oakley, assistant professor of Nurse Anesthesia, ran the Boston Marathon on April 17th.   Oakley, an avid runner, completed the marathan in a record time of 3:41:20.  The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world's most prestigious road racing events. The Boston Athletic Association manages this American classic, which is sponsored by John Hancock Financial Services. The Boston Marathon has distinguished itself as the pinnacle event within the sport of road racing by virtue of its traditions, longevity and method of gaining entry into the race (via qualification).   The marathon course follows a point-to-point route from rural Hopkinton to Boston, a distance of 26 miles.

 Dr. Oakley received her BS and Certificate of Nurse Anesthesia  from UAB.  She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University with a completion of an externship at Cornell University College of Veterinary at Ithaca, NY.  She has delivered anesthesia in various species in addition to providing anesthesia in a variety of surgical populations.

Dr. Oakley has completed several marathons including the Mercedes Marathon..  She also enjoys all animals and welcomes any questions about pets and “animal rearing” She has 2 dogs and has a special fondness for English Springer Spaniels.
