The LRC is a collaborative effort between the SHP and the SON and is designed to provide state-of-the-art, highly specialized services for their students and faculty. Curricular support activities of the LRC include the following: non-technical computer user support for faculty, staff, and students; facilities and classroom scheduling; classroom equipment set-up and support; user education and training; and operational support for distance learning and video teleconferencing.

The LRC contains areas supporting a variety of teaching and learning activities, including carrels equipped for student viewing of videos; classrooms and small group meeting rooms; a computer center; electronic training rooms; clinical skills labs; and technologically advanced, video-based, distance learning facilities.

The materials collection of the LRC includes audiovisual, computer, and printed materials which are available to students and faculty of the SHP and the SON. The collection includes videocassettes, videodiscs, audiocassettes, computer resources, reference books, reserved class materials, bound journals, bound research volumes, and various types of physical assessment instruments and assistive devices.
