Robert L. Garrie, MPA, RHIA, has a wide range of health information management experience ranging from acute care and specialty facilities to consulting. Mr. Garrie has also taught at Truman College in Chicago, Delgado Community College in New Orleans and Alabama State University in Montgomery. Prior to relocating to Alabama in 2002, he was the Director of Education and Accreditation at the American Health Information Management Association in Chicago. While at AHIMA, he was responsible for management of accreditation services and consultative support to over 200 college programs across the country. He worked with Curriculum Committees to develop new and innovative Curricula Models for programs at the Master’s, Baccalaureate and Associate levels. Mr. Garrie also served as the Staff Liaison to the AHIMA Council on Accreditation, HIM Education Strategy Committee, HIM Workforce Research Project and the Fellowship Review Committee. Mr. Garrie is currently serving as Past-President of the Alabama Association of Health Information Management.
