Who should complete UAB IRB training?
Who Needs IRB Training for the UAB IRB?
Anyone who is an employee or student at UAB and
- is listed as an Investigator or "key personnel" (i.e., engaged in the design, conduct, analysis, or reporting of research) on the IRB protocol or funding application;
- screens potential participants and/or obtains informed consent;
- has IRB-related responsibilities.
Individuals who work on a protocol reviewed by the UAB IRB but are employed by or attend another institution that has its own IRB may need to have their work reviewed by their own IRB.
Anyone who is not an employee or student at UAB and
- works at another institution that has an "IRB Authorization Agreement" whereby the UAB IRB is the "IRB of record";
- works at another institution and holds an "Individual Investigator Agreement" whereby the UAB IRB is that person's "IRB of record."
