Public Safety Training

Through a grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, UAB Workplace Safety Training Program offers the following courses at no charge to public safety personnel. Courses are offered at host training sites throughout the southeast US.

Confined Space/Rescue
Five days of training with extensive hands-on practice!

Incident Management Systems
NFPA 1561
Two days of scenario based training using a realistic approach.

Air Monitoring for Contaminants
One day class that offers hands-on practice with a variety of instruments. Bring instruments from your department for calibration and practice if you wish.

SCBA Fit Testing Course
NFPA 1404 and 1500
One day class that offers hands-on practice in fit testing. After this training, participants will be able to qualitatively fit test members of their departments using kits with instructions.

Grant Funded Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Awareness Training
This course will provide attendees with a basic understanding of terrorism and the potential threat of WMD incidents.
