WHAT:

This week, Governor Bob Riley set up the Alabama Citizens’ Constitution Commission to examine the provisions in Alabama’s constitution and to make recommendations for reform. UAB historian Sam Webb, Ph.D., is available to provide analysis on the issue of constitutional reform in Alabama.

WHO:

Sam Webb, J.D., Ph.D., is an expert on Alabama’s political history and co-editor of the book Alabama Governors: A Political History of the State. He also is author of the book Two Party Politics in the One Party South: Alabama Hill Country, 1874-1920. He is currently working on a book about Alabama politics during the period between the World War I and World War II.

Webb’s areas of expertise include Alabama’s political history, Alabama governors, southern politics since Reconstruction, the U.S. Constitution and American political parties.
