"Affliction of Thoracica", 34"h x 46"w, 2003, oil on canvas

This is one of my more current works that I experimented with "dripping" of the paint to create a sense of monumentality and the feeling that my figures may be carrying out their primal behavior on the picture plane.

"Transmutation of an Essence", 34" x 46"w, 2003, oil on canvas

This piece, like the first, I was also experimenting with the dripping of paint.

"Insects are mysterious because they know how to live among us while remaining invisible to our eyes. They cleverly take on the shape and color of various leaves, shriveled bark, or broken twigs. They appear and disappear in a trice, with a quick jump or a flash of their wings, emerging from nowhere, and quickly vanishing whence they came. As a result, many seem elusive and blessed with special powers, prompting us to wonder if they might be superior to us in some way."

-Jacques de Tonnancour,

from Insects revealed, Monsters or Marvels?
