The Department of Sociology has 12 full-time faculty and several part-time faculty. Currently, it has over 133 undergraduate majors and 30 graduate students. Two majors are offered in Sociology and Social Psychology. Two graduate degrees are offered, an M.A. in Sociology and a Ph.D. in Medical Sociology. The department has primary responsibility for directing the Women's Studies program, Program in Social Medicine, and the Program in Gerontology. Sociology Faculty have secondary appointments and ties with the Lister Hill Center for Health Policy, Civitan International Research Center, Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Center for Aging, AIDS Research Center, Arthritis Center, Minority Health and Research Center, Center for Urban Affairs, Departments of Psychology Medicine, and Health Promotion and Prevention.
