Text Messaging is intended for very short alphanumeric messages sent via e-mail directly to your cell phone.

Pricing: 2 cents for messages received and 10 cents for messages sent per address.

Text Messaging only works within Verizon Wireless digital coverage areas.

You must know the cell phone number and then you may send a text message to any UAB employee on his/her phone who has this feature in one of two ways:

  • Send a Text Message through the Verizon Wireless Web site
  • Send a Text Message directly from any e-mail. The e-mail address of any Verizon Wireless phone with Mobile Web is phonenumber@vtext.com (i.e. 5554443333@vtext.com). Place call back number in subject line to make it easy for the person to call you back.

There is a limit of 125 characters including spaces.

Important Notes about Text Messaging

  • Text messages can only be sent to Verizon Wireless customers with CDMA digital phones who subscribe to Verizon Wireless Text Messaging or Mobile Web.
  • Messages are delivered to customers' handsets when they are in their local digital service area.
  • Messages will be stored for 5 days for later delivery for customers who are out of their local service area or who have their phone turned off.

Verizon Wireless does not guarantee delivery of text messages.
