Cell Phone Voice Mail for Business Use

Voice Mail is free with all America's Choice plans.

Setting Up Your Voice Mail for the First Time

To set up your voice mail, dial *86 from your cell phone if you are in the Birmingham area and press "Send." When voice mail answers, enter the "#" sign, and your temporary security code (the default code is 9999 or 6245). You may change your security code at anytime after set up. The menu will then lead you through the set up process.

Or, from any phone dial your cell phone number, when your voice mail answers press "#," then enter your temporary security code of 9999 or 6245.

Many of our newer phones have an initial default voice mail password as the 10 digit cell phone number.

Tip: Checking voice mail from a landline phone does not cost you cellular minutes.

Checking Voice Mail Messages

An envelope icon will appear on your cell phone when you have a voice message. Once you delete the voice mail from your mailbox, the envelope icon on your screen will disappear (if you have "auto delete option" set on your phone, otherwise you will have to manually delete it).

Press the envelope key on your phone (or "Messages" in your phone's menu) and it will tell you how many voice mails and text messages you have. Check messages by dialing *86 (or your area code and phone number if you are calling from outside Birmingham), Send, and enter your security code.

Or, from any phone, dial your cell phone number (with area code if outside Birmingham). When voice mail answers press "#", enter your security code and follow the prompts.

Tip: You may pre-program your Voice Mail number into your auto dial or phone book, including pauses and your security code, to automate the entire process.
