-BECA Gallery has announced that a limited edition of signed prints of Chapman's painting, "Girl With Puffin," are now available exclusively through the gallery. As part of the galleries Artist Editions series, prints are available in two different sizes.
- Chapman has been named one of Alabama's Master Artists. Two of his paintings and an essay on his work are included in the book "Alabama Masters," a survey of Alabama Artist's works within museum collections throughout the state.
-Chapman will be teaching at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts during June 14 - 20, 2009 session. You can learn more about the class and register as early as Fall 2008 at: www.arrowmont.org
- On February 25th, Chapman was invited to the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts where he provided a morning lecture on his work to the Museum Docents and Friends, and then a noon lecture to the Museum's Collector's Socieity.
- Chapman recently served the Cleveland Institute of Art as a Visiting Artist from February 27th - March 1st. While there he lectured on his work, participated in several group critiques and a number of individual critiques.
- Chapman's work was selected for the Gulf South Regional Contemporary Art exhibition with B E C A Gallery of New Orleans. As a result of the exhibition, he was selected for the Solo Exhibition Award. His solo show with B E C A Gallery is scheduled for March 8 - March 30th.
- Chapman's painting "Self Portrait," oil and gold leaf on canvas, was purchased by the University Museum of the University of Mississippi for the permanent collection. The purchase was a result of his solo exhibition with the museum from March 27 - May 27 in 2007.
- Chapman's painting "Vision," received an Honorable Mention and was purchased for the corporate collection as part of the recent exhibition, 100 Years, Lighting The Way, Alabama Power Company, Corporate Headquarters. Archives Gallery; Birmingham, AL.
- Chapman will be teaching at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts during the June 11 - 17, 2006 session. He will once again be teaching the "Unlocking the Secrets to Painting with Oils," a one week course for all levels. You can register for the class by clicking the link immediately below.

- Chapman has been awarded a 2005 Residency at the Jentel Artist Residency Program. Jentel is located on a 1,000 acre plus working cattle ranch 20 miles southeast of Sheridan, Wyoming. Set in the rolling sage hills along Piney Creek, with spectacular views of the Big Horn Mountains. Chapman will create art on the ranch from June 15 to July 13, along with several other visual artists and writers from around the world.
-Chapman's painting "Man With Blackeye, Listening," has been purchased by the Mobile Museum of Art. The painting was selected for inclusion in the "Southeastern Juried Exhibition 2004" and Juror Sean Ulmer, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, University of Michigan Museum of Art awarded the painting with a Museum Purchase Award. This is the second painting by Chapman to be acquired for the Mobile Museum of Art's permanent collection. The exhibition is currently on display and closes December 26th.

-Chapman's painting "Girl with Stick," has been purchased by the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art for the permanent collection. The painting can be seen on the front page of this web site or under the Museum Collections pages and linking to the Jule Collins Smith Museum page.
-Chapman's work has been selected for publication in the 2004 Edition of New American Paintings. This years Southeastern Edition was juried by Carrie Przybilla, Curator of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.
-Chapman's painting "Electra" has been purchased for the Alabama Power Corporate Collection. The painting now hangs in the Board Room of the Corporate Headquarters Building. Sadie, the artist's daughter, is the model for the painting.
-Chapman recently participated in the 2003 Biennale Internazionale Dell'Arte Contemporanea, in Florence, Italy. The exhibition was held in the Fortezza da Basso from the 6th through the 14th of December, 2003. He and his family spent 18 days in Italy traveling and paricipating in the Biennale events.
-Chapman has been promoted to full Professor and has agreed to serve a three year stint as Chair of the Department of Art and Art History at UAB.
-The Wiregrass Museum of Art, of Dothan, Alabama has purchased Gary Chapman's oil painting, "Man with Stick." The painting has been on loan to the Museum since his November solo exhibition there and it will now become a part of the museums permanent collection.
-Chapman's work is now represented by Trinity Gallery, one of Atlanta, Georgia's finest and more provocative art galleries. (See representation page for gallery information.)
