UAB Hospital again is the only hospital in the Birmingham area to earn a National Research Corporation (NRC) Consumer Choice Award. The award means UAB Hospital is among the nation’s 225 top hospitals in terms of consumer perceptions of quality and image. Within Alabama, only two other hospitals also came out on top.

The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center has won an $11.5 million renewal grant from the National Institutes of Health to continue exploring groundbreaking breast cancer science and treatment options. UAB first won this grant more than five years ago. Only 10 other institutions have earned the funding.

UAB has received a federal grant to create the Deep South Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (RCMAR). The National Institute on Aging, one of the National Institutes of Health, and the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities have awarded $2.7 million over five years to UAB and three other Southern universities to examine health disparities in older minority adults.

The UAB School of Business was featured in The Princeton Review’s 2008 edition of its Best 290 Business Schools. The New York–based education services company called it a “great program” with “cutting-edge classes.”
