April 10-May 2        BFA Exhibition 2009  The UAB Visual Arts Gallery presents "Double Vision," two consecutive exhibitions in April showcasing works by seven students graduating with bachelor's of fine arts degrees this spring. Works by students Xiao Jin Zou, Laci Stewart and Drew Watts will be on show April 10-18, with an opening reception planned 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 10. Zou and Stewart work in both installation and printmaking, while Watts' focus is on graphic design. The second exhibition will feature works by Susan Andreae, Adam Bodine, Fred Mitchell and Krysta Parsons April 24-May 2, with an opening reception 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 24. Andreae is a graphic design major, Bodine's emphasis is sculpture, Mitchell is a photographer and Parsons focuses on both printmaking and installation.

May 8-June 5             Annie Butrus: "Peach Tree Trail" Featuring several diptychs installed together as a simulated trail. Each diptych represents an individual peach farmer's orchard in Chilton County. Annie Butrus is an artist who pursues work about people's perception of the places they live. Her project involves documenting the changes in the landscape and the emotions evoked in response to that change. Mainly realized in painting, Butrus' work has concentrated on the growth around the Birmingham-metro area, where she resides. Admission is free.
