SBS dean search is progressing, still time to nominate
A search committee already is reviewing applicants, but there still is time to nominate or refer candidates for the position of dean of the School of Social & Behavioral Sciences, said Philip Way, Ph.D., associate provost for Undergraduate Programs and chair of the search committee.

UAB to open clinic for rare genetic disease

UAB will open the first clinic in the Southeast dedicated to treating a rare genetic condition known as tuberous sclerosis (TS). There are an estimated 700 TS patients in Alabama alone.

BFA seniors exhibit at Visual Arts Gallery

An exhibition of works by five bachelor of fine arts students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham will be on display at the UAB Visual Arts Gallery through May 4. The exhibition, which is the final project for graduating students, allows the public, their professors and their peers to see the range of creative works they are producing today.

NSF funds summer research for undergraduates, teachers

A UAB Department of Physics program supporting summer research for undergraduates and high-school teachers has received an award of $312,200 from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Haarbauer bids adieu with The Tempest
Theatre UAB will present Shakespeare’s The Tempest, featuring movement coaching by Diavolo Dance Theatre’s Jones Welsh, April 18-22 in the Alys Stephens Center. The play is directed by Dennis McLernon and is the farewell performance of theatre professor and Associate Dean Ward Haarbauer, Ph.D., in the role of Prospero.
