The Security Services Unit is a support service of the UAB Police. The unarmed officers are non-sworn personnel who assist visitors, patients, students, faculty, and staff with basic first-responder needs. Their responsibilities include monitoring the parking decks, providing parking lot security, giving directions, assisting with traffic control, providing road service assistance, and assisting with other emergencies as required.

This unit reports to Captain Duane S. Cox.
