Captain Alfred Epting and sworn officers of the Special Operations Unit are responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of the department’s Mounted Unit and provide high profile mountain bike patrols on all shifts. The members are highly trained with the use of horses and serve as the focus point of police mountain bike training throughout the southeastern United States. The unit also provides primary support for traffic enforcement on campus with state of the art speed monitoring equipment.
