Your ability to cope with pain can improve by being more active. Exercise may treat your underlying problem. Activity can improve your mood, give you more energy, help you sleep and improve your overall health.
Consult a physician before beginning any exercise regimen. Enlisting the aid of a physical therapist is an option if you have not exercised in a long time or have physical limitations. Remember to start slowly and gradually increase over time. Doing some of the following exercises several times a week for short periods is highly recommended:
- stretching and range of motion;
- walking, biking, swimming;
- light Weights; and
- an exercise class.
