Leon S. Dure, M.D.
Professor, UAB Department of Pediatrics
Division of Child Neurology

Dr. Dure has served as Division Director of Child Neurology for the Department of Pediatrics at UAB since 2003. He is a board certified Child Neurologist with specialty training in disorders of movement. The psychomotor Disorders Clinic addresses problems relating to abnormal movements and includes such conditions as Tourette syndrome, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Huntington's disease, dystonia, tremor, and chorea. Dr. Dure is licensed to practice medicine in the States of Alabama and Texas.

Pongkiat Kankirawatana, M.D.
Associate Professor, UAB Department of Pediatrics
Division of Child Neurology

Dr. Kankirawatana (Dr. Pong) is a native of Bangkok, Thailand. He was board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1989, Clinical Neurology and EEG in 1993, and by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology-Child Neurology in 1994.  He specializes in pediatric epilepsy and epilepsy surgery.

Tony M. McGrath, M.D.
Assistant Professor, UAB Department of Pediatrics
Division of Child Neurology

Dr. McGrath received his M.D. degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1998 followed by a three-year residency there from 1998 to 2001. He then came to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and finished a residency in Pediatrics from 2001 to 2002. His area of treatment focuses on pediatric headache and epilepsy and his current research focuses on pediatric stroke.

Jayne Ness, M.D., Ph.D.
Associate Professor, UAB Department of Pediatrics
Division of Child Neurology

Dr. Ness is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1995. She completed her internship and residency training at UAB and Children's Hospitals from 1995 to 1998. She was board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics in 1998 and board certified in Child Neurology in 2003. She treats infant and childhood brain injury, cerebral palsy, pediatric demyelinating disorders such as multiple sclerosis, optic neuritis, transverse myelitis, and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM).

Alan K. Percy, M.D.
Professor, UAB Department of Pediatrics
Division of Child Neurology

Dr. Percy is a graduate of Stanford University School of Medicine in 1965 and also completed an internship there from 1965 to 1966 and residency from 1968 to 1969, followed by a residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1969 to 1971. He was board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1974, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 1978 and in 2003, and an additional certification in neurodevelopmental disabilities in 2001. Dr. Percy has subspecialty interests in Rett syndrome and neurodegenerative disorders.

Alyssa T. Reddy, M.D..
Associate Professor, UAB Department of Pediatrics
Division of Child Neurology

Dr. Reddy is a graduate of the UAB School of Medicine in 1993 and completed an internship and residency training there. She also completed a fellowship at UAB and a fellowship at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She was board certified in 2000 in neurology with special qualifications in child neurology. Dr. Reddy's subspecialty interests are the treatment of pediatric brain tumors and application of gene therapy to the treatment of pediatric brain tumors.

S. Lane Rutledge, M.D.
Associate Professor, UAB Department of Pediatrics
Division of Child Neuruology

Dr. Rutledge obtained her M.D. degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in 1981 and afterwards completed an internship at the University of Texas, Southwestern, Children's Medical Center, Dallas, and residency there also from 1981 to 1983. She was board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 1987, by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1989, and by the American Board of Medical Genetics in 1990. She subspecializes in the treatment of inborn errors of metabolism.

Korwyn L. Williams, M.D, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Division of Child Neurology

Dr. Williams is a graduate of the Washington University School of Medicine in 1998. He completed an internship at Baylor College of Medicine from 1998 to 1999 and residency there also from 1998 to 2000.

Bruce Korf, M.D., Ph.D.
Professor and Chairman, UAB Department of Genetics

Dr. Korf has an impressive array of certifications starting in 1983 when he was board certified by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, in 1984 by the American Board of Medical Genetics (Medical Genetics and Cytogenetics), in 1986 by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with special competence in Child Neurology, in 1988 by the American Board of Pediatrics, and in 1993 by the American Board of Medical Genetics (Molecular Genetics). His treatment of children and research interests have focused on the natural history, diagnosis, and management of neurofibromatosis conducted over a period of almost 20 years. Research studies have included outcome of children presenting with multiple cafe-au-lait spots, learning disabilities, and abdominal migraine in children with NF-1.
