Fundamentals of Cellular and Molecular Biology (Formerly BioTeach for Students) is a scientific enrichment experience for students completing grades 9 - 11. Acceptance criteria require that students demonstrate an interest in and aptitude for science. This program is a two-week, five-day a week introductory hands-on laboratory and seminar course in molecular biology taught by UAB and high school faculty. The program features week-long experiments on Mealworm DNA, Microorganisms, Sea Turtle Genetics, and protein Crystallization. In addition to laboratory research, students also are required to participate in educational workshops and scientific seminars as well as tours of UAB science facilities.
