The study of Immunology at UAB is vast, involving fundamental and clinical investigation and representing several different academic departments and multiple divisions within departments. The Program in Immunology was established to unite those researchers in an attempt to coordinate research, promote communication, and effectively identify and establish scientific collaboration. The faculty represent the Departments of Microbiology, Neurology, Pathology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry/Molecular Genetics, Physiology/Biophysics, and the Divisions of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology and Developmental & Clinical Immunology in the Department of Medicine. Ultimately, the goal of the Program is to foster an intellectual conduit for intensely focused, fundamental investigation in model systems and the more translational uses of that knowledge in human immunology.
