September 28, 2007 - Annual Garden Art Party

Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama
2007 Garden Art Party

Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama will hold their eleventh annual Garden Art Party at B & A Warehouse on Saturday, April 28. The event features a silent and live auction, including vacation packages to Seattle; Dauphin Island; Seacrest, Florida; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; a trip to New York City to attend an NFL game and have lunch with the Supervisor of Officials; a custom built playhouse; entertainment, golf, and dining packages; 2007 Super Bowl Football; artwork, home and decorating items and jewelry.

This year's event is a fancy backyard picnic - inspired by a painting, "The Treehouse" by seven participants from the South Highland Center. The artwork magically captures all the fun and joy experienced by those young at heart who remember fun times spent outdoors with family and friends. The painting can be viewed at www.alzca.org. The auction will also feature artwork and dinner plates by Alzheimer’s patients from assisted living facilities and adult day care centers.

There are over 78,000 Alabamians with Alzheimer’s disease. For each patient, an entire family is affected. Money raised at the Garden Art Party will fund services, programs and research. ACA is providing in-home respite care, scholarships for patients to attend adult day care centers and scholarships for continence supplies to over 400 patients and families this year. In addition, over 4,700 caregivers benefit from ACA’s newsletter, lecture series, support groups and resource center. ACA has also initiated Project Lifesaver, in partnership with Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, to help locate patients who have wandered from their homes and become lost.

Tickets for the Garden Art Party are $85.00 per person. For more information contact ACA at (205) 871-7970 or visit our website at www.alzca.org.
