Mary Alice Crum's extensive knowledge of laboratory tests, her numerous managerial duties and the respect and help she gives to others are just a few of the reasons she has been selected September’s Employee of the Month.

Fay Carroll is well-organized, efficient, patient, conscientious and respected by her peers. She also is humbled by the praise of her co-workers and honored to be selected August's Employee of the Month.

Lisa Baker, Ph.D., an assistant professor of social work, has been elected to a two-year term on the National Association of Perinatal Social Workers (NAPSW) board of directors. Baker teaches in the UAB Department of Anthropology and Social Work. Her research focuses on post-partum depression and perinatal health-care social work.

Tanju, who teaches financial accounting and internal auditing, also coordinates the department's student internship program. Since 1988, she has given thousands of UAB students a head start in their careers. In June she was selected the 2007 Outstanding Accounting Educator of the Year by the Alabama Society of CPAs this past month.
