Undergraduate Programs - Global and Community Leadership

Civic Engagement

GCL Homebuilding
A primary concern for students emerging as Global and Community Leadership scholars is the hands-on experience and application of classroom learning to community settings. Such experiences provide a context for the material learned in a class. They can also teach skills not otherwise learned in a classroom setting. Whether the location for such experiences is in Birmingham, in the United States, or in another country, GCL Honors strives to expose students to such personally and professionally rewarding experiences through engagement with communities as scholars.

Community Partners

One primary goal for students in GCL Honors is to get them engaged in their local communities through civic, nonprofit, and other organizations. As GCL expands its reach into the community through placing students in internships, service-learning courses, and study-away experiences, links and information about those organizations will be posted here.

If you are a community group wishing to partner with GCL Honors students, please contact us or the UAB Office for Service-Learning.
