The Path to Declaring Your Major One of the primary tasks in developing your college portfolio is declaring your major. Your advisor is here to assist you on your path to declaring a major. The Path to Declaring a Major consists of 2 parts and a total of 4 assignments. During Part I, Major Exploration, you will do a self assessment, some personal reflection, and research 3 UAB majors. Part II is Career Exploration where you will explore volunteer opportunities, professional organizations, and career choices for each of your selected majors.
To make the first step towards declaring a major, make an appointment with your Exploratory Studies advisor by calling 934-6135 or stopping by HUC 318. At the appointment, your advisor will distribute your first assignment and explain how to complete it. Ultimately you will decide the pace of your major exploration, so when you complete the first assignment simply schedule a second appointment to discuss your findings and begin the next assignment. It is our hope that upon completion of the fourth assignment you will be much closer to declaring a major.
