UAB is committed to your academic success. In addition to the academic support programs offered through the Office for Student Academic Success, there are a range of individual tutoring options available.
Tutoring services through the English Resource Center and Math Learning Lab are free of charge and available to all UAB students.
English Resource Center – The English Resource Center provides free tutorial assistance to any UAB student seeking help with reading proficiency or any kind of writing task. Tutors work with students from developmental-level classes, including students for whom English is a second language, through graduate-level courses. Math Learning Lab – The Math Learning Lab is located in Heritage Hall, and is available to all students enrolled in undergraduate math courses. There are over 200 computers available and tutors are on site during business hours. For more information, you can visit their site here.
Private tutoring lists by department are provided as a resource for UAB students. Inclusion of a student's name does not indicate employment or endorsement by UAB, or the Office for Student Academic Success, or any of the departments listed below. Communications and negotiations regarding tutoring arrangements, payments, etc. are solely up to the tutor and student. Please note that these services are for a fee, unless otherwise noted.

Computer and Information Services, Department of – The UAB Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery provides a tutoring program for the CIS department. ACM members volunteer for tutoring and are screened based on their academic performance in the CIS program. The tutoring schedule for each fall and spring can be found on the chapter's website at http://www.cis.uab.edu/acm/. The ACM Executive Committee is responsible for coordinating the tutoring program and for reporting tutoring outcomes to the chapter sponsor, Fran Fabrizio, and the department's undergraduate advisor, John Faulkner. There is no fee for this service.
