UAB is committed to your academic success. In addition to the academic support programs offered through the Office for Student Academic Success, there are many individual tutoring options available.
Accounting Tutorial Office
Open to students in Principles of Accounting I and II and in Intermediate Financial Accounting I, on a walk-in, no-charge basis. It is staffed by upper-level undergraduate and master's students in accounting. The office is open during selected times during the day and in the evening on weekdays, Monday-Thursday. The schedule changes each term based on the availability of tutors. The tutors can also help students with relatively simple questions by telephone, 934-8877. However, we encourage face-to-face contact when a significant amount of interaction is necessary. The office is located in BEC 309-F.
Computer and Information Services, Department of
The UAB Student Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery provides a tutoring program for the CIS department. ACM members volunteer for tutoring and are screened based on their academic performance in the CIS program. The tutoring schedule for each fall and spring can be found on the chapter's website at www.cis.uab.edu/acm/. The ACM Executive Committee is responsible for coordinating the tutoring program and for reporting tutoring outcomes to the chapter sponsor, Fran Fabrizio, and the department's undergraduate advisor, John Faulkner.
English Resource Center
The English Resource Center provides free tutorial assistance to any UAB student seeking assistance with developmental and introductory English courses. For more information, you can visit their site here.
Math Learning Lab
The Math Learning Lab, located in 202 Heritage Hall, is available to all students enrolled in UAB math courses MA 098 through MA 227. There are over 200 computers available and tutors are on site during business hours. For more information, you can visit their site here.
University Writing Center
The University Writing Center (UWC) is open to students and faculty for individual tutoring and instructional workshops. Resources available include computer stations, small group workrooms, a 40 seat flexible classroom, and laptops available for instructional use. For more information, you can visit their site here.

Communications and negotiations regarding tutoring arrangements, payments, etc. are solely up to the tutor and student.
