The SEM initiative seeks to ensure that UAB recruits a diverse, well-prepared, student body that matches the academic opportunities available; and to foster student engagement and success, ensuring retention and timely graduation, through integrative partnerships across the university and community for the benefit of students, the institution, and society.
Three-Tiered Organization
Steering Committee
Members: President, Provost, relevant VPs, Deans with undergraduate programs, and Faculty Senate rep.
Roles:
Planning Group
Members: Associate Provosts, AVPs in Student Affairs, Associate Deans with undergraduate programs, certain Directors in Undergraduate Programs and Enrolment Management, and Faculty Senate rep.
Roles:
Work Groups
Examples of foci: supportive campus environment; advising and technology; student success programs and retention; student diversity; international student recruitment.
Members: 6-10 from multiple VP lines
Roles:
- To refine plans from Planning Group
- To implement plans and measure outcomes
- To report back to the Planning Group
