A healthy mind depends on a healthy body. Close quarters and stress can make students vulnerable to various illnesses. That's where the UAB Student Health Services comes in. We provide care for the medical needs of UAB students, including prevention, treatment, or counseling.

Walk-in policy: Student Health has "acute" care and injury walk-in hours from 8:00am-9:00am and from 1:00 until 2:00pm we are closed from 12:00 until 1:00. If it can wait... please schedule an appointment. Follow-up visits are not considered acute care.

Who Can Use the Student Health Service?
All full-time students in the schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Public Health, Optometry, Nursing, and Health Related Professions and all international students are required to subscribe to the Student Health Plan.
The Student Health Plan is also available for undergraduate students who pay the required Student Health Fee.
As of September 2010, all UAB students not currently enrolled in the Student Health Plan may now pay a $30 single-visit fee for provider services at the Student Health clinic. This single-visit option provides an alternative to the $90 fee/semester Student Health Plan for UAB students not currently required to enroll.
Check to see if you are medically cleared!This Web site link is for International Students, International Scholars, Medical, Public Health, Nursing, Optometry, Dental, School of Health Professions and Joint Health Sciences’ students only. Wait at least one week after mailing, faxing or handing in your required health, immunization and titer testing forms before you start checking this site for your clearance.
All other students need to check with the UAB Registrar at (205) 934-8222 to make sure they have received your proof of having had two MMR {Rubeola, Rubella & Mumps) vaccinations on record. If you have not done so already, simply fax (205)975-6168 a copy of your MMR vaccination record to the UAB Registrar with your name and Banner ID number clearly written on it.
