Random Acts of Kindness
Random Acts of Kindness is a group of students who perform random acts to brighten peoples' days. These involve actions at UASOM and in the community.
The Tinsley R. Harrison Medical Student Society was founded in 1980 with an endowment from the late Tinsley Harrison, M.D. The society is made up of junior and senior medical students and members of the faculty, who meet at the Cams twice monthly for dinner, after which one senior student presents a program related to medicine. All attendees then discuss the topic until they adjourn.

Association of Nursing Students
The Association of Nursing Students is a local chapter of the Alabama Association of Nursing Students and the National Student Nurses Association. The Association of Nursing Students is a preprofessional organization with members from prenursing and nursing students. The association functions a non-profit service organization with yearly service projects and professional involvement.
Nursing Graduate Student Association
The Nursing Graduate Student Association (NGSA) fosters communication among gradute Nursing students and the structural units of UAB; promotes representation of graduate nursing students in the academic, administrative, and student affairs at UAB; and supports socialization of graduate nursing students.

Student Occupational Therapy Association
This organization promotes fellowship among O.T. students and faculty and the UAB community. The association also promotes the awareness of O.T. at UAB and the community.
Optometry
The American Optometric Student Association serves as the student government association. The American Optometric Student Association sponsors seasonal activities such as the fall party, christmas semi-formal, eye ball and golf tournement. The American Optometric Student Association also works closeley with the Alabama Optometric Association on the optical fair.
This national organization seeks to provide fellowship for Christian optometrists and optometry students. Activities include luncheon seminars featuring speakers from the faculty and other organizations, bible studies, and a yearly mission trip.
The goals of the National Optometric Student Association promotes optometry to minorities to increase awareness of eye diseases and disorders and increase minority representation of the profession.
Pi Epsilon Chi was founded at the University of Alabama School of Optometry with the intent of allowing optometry students to further expand and enhance their education, community service, and fellowship. This professional fraternity has been created for the enhancement of primary eyecare.
The Student Optometric Services to Humanity Organization is a charitable organization dedicated to providing vision care to people from the United States and abroad, who would otherwise not receive care. Activities include collecting used eyeglasses and participating in vision screenings.

The Minority Association of Prehealth Students (MAPS) is a resource network that provides knowledge and skills that are both pre-requisite on concomitant to professional participation in the health care industry. MAPS endeavor is to also increase minority enrollment and retention in health related programs at the undergraduate level and increase matriculation into graduate and professional programs.

The UAB Pre-Law Society is dedicated to serving undergraduate students with a pre-law interest. There are many activities sponsored by the Pre-Law Society throughout the year incuding the annual Pre-Law Forum.
