UAB's cheerleaders, dance team and Blaze magnify the fun and excitement of Blazer sports.
Whenever you see them, they’re sure to get the crowd going.
These teams support football, men’s and women’s basketball, and volleyball. You will also see each team and Blaze at many other athletic and nonathletic events. Each team receives partial scholarships.
All teams attend UCA/UDA summer camp and compete at the UCA/UDA College National Championship each January. Most recently the cheerleaders finished in the top 10 at the 2009 National Championship.
2009 FOOTBALL SPIRIT DAY
Sept. 29th, 5-8pm (learn material) ) and Oct 1st 5pm – until (practice and game)
Learn dances with the Golden Girls! Students will learn the material on Tuesday and perform at the UAB vs. USM game on Thursday.
Open to everyone 5 through High School.

Blaze: UAB's MascotBlaze, UAB’s mascot, entertains fans, kids, and families at football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, and soccer games and numerous campus activities. The popular plush dragon also makes appearances at community events throughout the year. Mascot tryouts take place each spring. UAB provides a partial scholarship and pays travel expenses.
Golden GirlsThe Golden Girls dance team energizes crowds with its sideline routines at football games and men’s basketball games. Tryouts are held each spring. Members receive partial scholarships, uniforms, and paid travel expenses.
