The international student population at UAB comes from over 80 countries and contributes to UAB’s campus to make a richly diverse community. UAB is ranked as one of the top 5 most diverse campuses in the United States for 2008.
While many students are far from home, they are not alone here. In fact, International Recruitment and Student Services (IRSS) offers a broad range of programs and services you will find helpful during your stay, including our International FYI (For Your Information) series, International Women’s Group, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, and numerous activities and events available at the Smolian International House.

They cover many topics from Work Authorization and How to Maintain Your Student Status to applying for a Driver’s License. If you need any assistance regarding immigration issues that affect your student status or other areas of concern, please contact one of our knowledgeable immigration advisors.
An additional service available through IRSS is our notary service. Appointments can be made Monday through Friday before 4pm.
