A small number of patients from UAB's Comprehensive Cancer Center were treated to a special meeting and autograph session with IndyCar drivers April 9 during the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. Their visit to Barber Motorsports Park included a tour and a spin around the track in a Porsche. Cancer patients from Children's Hospital of Alabama attended the same driver meeting. The weekend began with practice runs and qualifying for Saturday and Sunday races, including the IZOD IndyCar Series. Spectators from more than 40 states and several countries attended the event.
