  • Served as the principal author for AOA's Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG), "Care of the patient with ocular surface disorders" (2003).
  • Panel member for CPG, "Care of the patient with retinal detachment and related peripheral retinal disease.
  • Author of over 125 scientific articles
  • Named as one of the 2000 outstanding intellectuals of the 21st century
  • Founding member of the Optometric Glaucoma Society where I currently serve on the Executive Board
  • Founding Fellow of the Optometric Retina Society where I currently serve on the annual program committee

Teaching:
OPT - 316 Diseases of the Posterior Segment
This 40-hour course covers diseases and disorders of the retina, vitreous and optic nerve exclusive of glaucoma.

OPT - 333 Glaucoma

Research:
Principal Investigator: A prospective randomized double-blind evaluation of zeaxanthine as an oral supplement and its effects on macular pigment optical density and dark adaptation.

Co-Investigator: evaluation of visual field defects by computerized perimetry

Co-Investigator: multi-focal erg in normal tension glaucoma
