Scholarly Activity:

Teaching:
Dr. Fleming serves as coursemaster of Cornea and External Diseases (OPT 232), which covers the clinicopathology, differential diagnosis, and pharmacologic management of external ocular disease. In addition to classroom teaching, he works with students and residents in clinics and conferences on a regular basis. He has presented continuing education to optometrists and other health care professionals in the areas of ocular disease, systemic disease, pharmacology, and ocular anatomy.

Research:
Dr. Fleming’s scholarly area is primary eye care, and he draws upon a deeper expertise in anterior segment eye disease. In addition to authoring a textbook chapter on anterior segment evaluation for the second edition of Borish's Clinical Refraction, he has presented and published original research on herpes simplex keratitis, laser therapy in glaucoma, compliance with medical therapy in glaucoma, and migraine aura without headache.
