The Abel Family Endowed Scholarship

  • Preference given to the highest GPA in CEVS coursework after completing all sections
  • Apply by 6/15 Scholarship given by 8/15

Clark F. Amos Endowed Presidential Scholarship

  • Award provided to fourth year professional program student pursuing an optometric residency
  • Apply by 4/15 Scholarship given 5/1

Drs. John & Catherine Amos Endowed Scholarship

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or admitted to, The School of Optometry at UAB
  • Apply by 7/07 Scholarship given 8/1

The Arol Augsburger, O.D. Endowed Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or admited to, The School of Optometry
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Apply by 7/1 Scholarship given 8/1

Azman Scholarship

  • Award provided to third year student in the professional program in the area of contact lenses
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Also required to write a paper
  • Award given at the beginning of the fall term of student’s fourth year

Richard B. Booth Endowed Scholarship

  • Open to all students
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Preference given to residents of the state of Tennessee
  • Apply by 1/15 Scholarship given by 2/15

Dr. Lester Caplan/CIBA Vision Corporation Scholarship

  • Awarded to fourth year professional program students
  • Interest must be in cornea/contact lenses or clinical excellence in cornea/contact lenses
  • Student must be in top 20% of class
  • 1-3 scholarships given ranging from $2,000 to $6,000
  • Apply by 6/1 Scholarship Given in the fall

Dr. Elbert A. (Bert) Coshatt Alumni Scholarship

  • Award based on financial need
  • All professional program students eligible
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 6/1 Scholarship given by 11/1

Dr. Ernest DeBakey Endowed Scholarship

  • Preference given to all South Alabama Students enrolled in the professional program
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Available fall term of 2008

The Lee Dickerson Endowed Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or admited to, The School of Optometry
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated a proficiency in the GP contact lens section and clinic
  • Apply by 6/15 Scholarship given 8/15

Energen/Alagasco Endowed Scholarship

  • Provides award to the extent permitted by law
  • Preference will be given to applicants from under-represented, low-income and
  • Minority populations, whose enrollment and academic performance would enhance the diversity of the student population of UABSO
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 6/1 Scholarship given by 8/15

The Faculty of Optometry and Vision Sciences Student Scholarship Endowment

  • Open to all students
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 6/15 Scholarship given by 8/15

Eydie C. Jones Scholarship FUND

  • Provides award to first year professional program student in good standing, based on financial need
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 9/1 Scholarship given by 11/1

New Orleans Contact Lens Society Scholarship
(While establishing the endowment, $1000 is given yearly)

  • Award provided to students in the professional program
  • Preference given to residents of Louisiana
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 3/1 Scholarship given by 8/1

Dr. E. C. Overton Endowed Scholarship

  • Open to all students
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 6/15 Scholarship given by 8/15

Henry B. Peters Endowed Scholarship

  • Provides award to all students enrolled in the professional program
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 6/1 Scholarship given by 8/1

Dr. Henry B. Peters Endowed Scholarship

  • Award given for excellence in overall academic performance
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 6/15 Scholarship given by 8/15

Frederic and Marion Rosemore Family Foundation Scholarship

  • Award provided to outstanding third or fourth year students in the professional program in the area of primary care
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • 1-3 scholarships given in the amount of $1,000
  • Apply by 6/1 Scholarship given by 8/1

SECO Endowed Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or admited to, The School of Optometry
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA demonstrating solid academic achievement
  • Preference will be given to students from the southeastern states

VSP Scholarship & VSP- Henry B. Peters Endowed Scholarship

  • Awards given to students enrolled in the professional program whose GPA at the beginning of the 4th year is in the top half of the class (one student selected for each of the above scholarships)
  • Apply by 6/1 Scholarship given by 8/1

Edgar M. Warr, O.D. Alumni Endowed Scholarship

  • Award given to all students enrolled in the professional program
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply summer term for fall 2008

Dr. Bradford W. Wild Endowed Scholarship

  • Award open to all students
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 6/15 Scholarship given by 8/15

John A. Williamson Endowed Scholarship

  • Award given to first year professional program student in good standing, based on financial need
