Individuals with a bachelor's degree or master's in nursing may obtain more information about the non degree status by applying directly to Apply Yourself Online. Applicants are notified three weeks before classes as to whether they have permission to enroll based upon course enrollment numbers.
These courses are available for non-degree post baccalaureate students in the School of Nursing at UAB based on availability of seats within the course.

Application and Tuition Fees
A $30.00 fee is charged for a non-degree application to the School of Nursing. An additional fee is not charged for consecutive semesters of enrollment. The application fee should be paid by check made payable to the UAB School of Nursing and mailed or delivered with the completed application to the School. Tuition for all courses taken as a non-degree graduate student will be billed at the graduate rate according to the student's residency classification (in or out of state).
Academic Standards: Non-degree graduate students are subject to the same academic policies as degree-seeking students. The policies are stated in the School of Nursing Catalog. Enrollment in the School of Nursing as a non-degree graduate student does not constitute admission to study leading to the MSN degree. No limit is set on the number of courses that may be taken as a non-degree student. However, if the student is later admitted to the MSN degree program, a maximum of 12 semester hours may be applied toward the degree.
