Biography
Delaine Smith, RN, MSN, ARNP, BC is an Instructor, in the Community Health, Outcomes and Systems Department. He currently is working to implement the new Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. Previously, he served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force with over 21 years of active duty service. Delaine completed his first MSN at UAB in the Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist track and later earned a second MSN at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. His graduate studies prepared him to be an Adult Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He holds triple board certifications from the American Nurses' Credentialing Center in each of these areas. Delaine has many years of experience prescribing in both the military and the civilian sector. His most recent experience was in a community mental health clinic serving a primarily indigent/homeless population with a large SPMI sub-population. He plans to continue his advanced practice role doing psychopharmacological management.
